Poem # 70 Changes

Oh how time has changed!!

The same person whose presence once  lit up your life,

Now in the face of hate, makes you want to take flight;

The same person, whose presence once made your heart pitter patter,

Now evokes anger, enough to make your heart beat faster;

Across the room, our eyes would meet and you would let out a contented sigh,

Now there is always a frown on your face, each time I pass by;

When we spoke about our future, there was “us” growing old together,

Now we think of life ahead, happiness in sight, only when without each other;

How did we come to this, is a question I ask myself,

So strong in love at first, then suddenly on a reverse spell;

What matters is that, we are now in a mess,

Finding solace in solitude, is the only way to destress;

So here I am, single yet bound to you,

Now we have relationship rules, that are new;

Each time you choose to include or exclude me from your life plans,

Finally we end up, two losers, who couldn't hold on to how it all began!
