Poem # 251 Lessons in each stroke

Who doesn’t love to swim in the rain,
The sky so grey the water so blue,
My minds, turmoil and million thoughts contain,
Taking on a serene, and peaceful view.

Millions of drops of water, hitting my back,
Is it droplets? It feels like shards of glass,
Teaching me, that where there is joy, there is also pain,
When faced with a loss, to wait for the gain…

Diligently I swim, stroke after stroke,
Free of thoughts, focused to finish my lap goals,
Feeling one with water, and feeling whole,
I let the cold water, abate my minds turmoils.

After three full laps, quick rest and a sip of water,
Reenergized, I go on lap after lap faster,
Collect my thoughts, hold onto them for dissection after,
Teaching myself to go on, not let little hurdles matter.

The rain pours on, splattering all around,
I find my calm, in the consistent pitter patter noise,
The rumble of thunder, thankfully an absent sound,
I learn to find zen, in my life’s constant chaos.

The small act of swimming, a little over a mile,
Refreshes me, both physically and mentally,
I embrace the universes mysteries, with a smile,
Growing with each stroke, spiritually!
