You may think, you have gone your way,
Breaking my heart, abandoning me;
Ultimately it’s you, living each day,
With your choice, to insult my naivety!
When a lamb, befriends a lion,
Eventually, slaughter is all we will see;
Gullible, I let you easily in,
You opted, to ruthlessly hurt me!
Lessons learnt the hard way, to be a sceptic,
When I blindly trusted you, baring my soul;
I should have instead, elected to suspect,
In the end, you left my heart sore!
How I wish, you had been kinder,
Left me guileless, in peace;
You were, my life’s lesson to ponder,
While I continue to pay, a hefty fee!
I still pray, for your health and success,
Wishing you well, sending kind thoughts your way;
For our stolen moments, of happiness,
My love, was the price to pay!
