Poem #113 Wish I had more time....

 

Sitting alone with cheeks streaked in tears,
Wishing everyone New Years happy cheers;

Putting on an act that life is still merry,

While in actuality it’s been a tear filled journey.

Lost a few people I was close to this year,

People whom I counted on, as my near and dear;

Childhood memories with them, flashback in a rush,

Fun times and laughter were easy then and without fuss!

How I wish I had with them a little more time, 

To have spoken extra kind words or lines;

Made them realize they were loved and cherished,

Let them know how deep they will be missed.

As adults we get sucked into life’s drama and our own pain,

Precious time with loved ones we ignore, till we lose them to coffin;

I couldn’t even be there for last hug and a few words sublime,

Now am bound to these regretful thoughts, for the rest of my life time!
