The eve and day of Christmas can seem very lonely,
When you wake up alone, with only a headache for company;
Feelings of nostalgia, childhood memories of fun and laughter,
Never mind the luxuries, it was days filled with love & that’s all that mattered!
Friends and family got together to make merry and rejoice,
Being alone or lonely was not even a remote choice;
Surrounded by sweet cakes, funny jokes and friendly banter,
Not a thought in mind, that we all would be soon apart and distance would matter!
Somehow, then I failed to realize the value of merry laughter and love,
Desperately asked for the missing prosperity, when I wished upon the heaves above;
Guess what, today, I have what I wished for aeons ago,
But somehow happiness and love, have slid out through the door!
Now here I am on my favorite seat, in my couch by the fire,
TV, Jigsaw, Internet surround me, in this ironic satire;
Wishing back for those childhood days, filled with wonderful memories of cheer,
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
