No one knows you like your childhood friend,
Unlike a book, they are without a beginning or an end;
The stories of successes and failures from your past,
Unlike a book, they are without a beginning or an end;
The stories of successes and failures from your past,
Each challenge that made you “You” and stand apart.
Those days of carefree little games and laughter,
Of harmless jokes and petty fights that did not matter;
We always found a way to be together,
Our egos cast away, we chose our way back to each other.
As an adult I am nostalgic for those little triumphs we won,
How we stood up for each another and always had fun;
We did not need much to make the time worthwhile,
Just each other and a little space between land and sky!
Then we grew up and life caught on,
College, work, marriage, family and so on;
Fighting alone, facing each strife,
We lost touch, solving the maze of life.
Thanks to technology, today the world is smaller,
With internet, we managed to once again find each other;
It doesn’t feel like we missed out, for over a decade,
It’s still as easy to share our thoughts, without charade.
When we wistfully reminisce or simply share a joke,
All stress fades away and I feel a calming stroke;
You make it so easy for me to slip back to the girl i used to be,
The one who dared and dreamed of possibilities!
Childhood friends like you are antiques or priceless treasures,
The value you bring to me, is beyond any measure;
Memories, nostalgia or simply thoughts that are judgement free,
Someone with whom I am allowed to be simply “Me”!
