Poem #98 A Simple Hi!

 

Wrote this for a friend.... she is one of the kindest people I know 🙂 

Meant to say a simple hi, many a time through the day, 

Oh! so many mundane things, kept getting in my way😱; 

Did not intend to pen a whole poem, meant to text you a line, 

What can I do, my conversations now, have started to rhyme!

Wrote two stanzas, and decided to kept it sweet &   short,

Nagging thoughts and a mentors’ voice, made sure they weren’t my last;

So here you go, a few more lines added to the mix,

If writing about you makes the poem click, it’s such an easy fix!

When I joined the team new and alone, trying to figure, the lay of the land,

You reached out me, with a simple hi and offered  a helping hand;

I took you at your word and leaned on you, as a team mate I could depend on,

Since then till date, you’ve always been there, as someone I can count on.

Slowly we started to open up, and interact as friends,

I was impressed by how kind you were, hands always outstretched to lend;

Juggling family, work and a myriad of exquisite hobbies in your time to spare,

Be it martial arts, playing the guitar or painting, you do it with a certain flair.

So many thoughtful gestures, in today’s world is rare,

An independent rebellious streak, shown in how you sport your hair;

Unaware of how unique you are, setting your own trends,

I am glad, that our paths crossed, and I can count you as my friend!

Hope you had a lovely day, away from duties and work,

A truly deserved day off, for someone who never shirks;

Much needed time with family, friends and pets,

Make it perfect, with some "me time" and much needed rest!
