Poem #101 Indian Marriage: Part 1: The Perfect Groom

Brides want a guy, who is handsome and tall,
Towering, to dwarf her in 4-inch heels;
Makes her a priority, even after a long day’s haul,
Truthful and cognitive, of how he makes her feel.

He needs to be loyal, he needs to be kind,
He needs to be loving and show care;
Mixed opinion on, his playful mind,
The list is long, if he aims to take the dare.

Be ambitious and support her career aspirations,
Love to travel, yet love the comfort of a home;
Needs to be positive, in his affirmations,
And carry himself, with panache and aplomb.

Getting along, with her friends is a must,
Her most valued, critical appraisers;
He needs to be someone, that she can trust,
Spending time with him, needs to be a pleasure.

He will need, to play along,
If they have, varied conflicting tastes;
While being opposites, should make them strong,
He needs to give her room, some breathing space.

A simple answer to, what they want to score,
Brides parents, all bark up the same alley;
They want a groom, who can provide for,
And strive, to keep their daughter happy.

Siblings vary, in their maturity and their needs,
They want a groom, who looks great;
Spoiling them, with gifts and fun treats,
Supportive of their sister, was a must in her mate.

After all the above, criteria are met,
The astrological charts are matched;
A date for the family meet, is set,
And a plan to take the alliance forward, is hatched.

Overall, the brides, have a long list ahead,
They seek mate in a well-rounded personality;
Someone to keep, their spirits steadfastly fed,
Was deemed, worth the leap into eventuality.
