Poem #78 Covid-19

Crisp spring, rising alive in the air
Cheery blossom trees, blooming fair;
The young go about, without any care,
While the old stay in, under pandemic scare.

Offices take, an approach informal,
Making work from home, their new normal;
Schools close down, to contain the spread,
Kids all day at home, a parents' dread.

People stock up, on supplies to last forever,
Sanitizer, food, alcohol and packs of toilet paper;
The early birds buy all, their bags filled hefty,
While the late ones are faced, with aisles Oh! so empty.

New York's known, as the city that never sleeps,
Now announces, Shelter in Place;
Restricting movement of people in public space,
Controlling the expansion of the infection and its pace.

New Jersey seems to be crawling up in numbers,
Being in the suburbs, the spread is encumbered;
Recommended curfew, is the Governors' order,
Speedy response like this avoids disorder.

While the US & UK were slow in its response to this disease,
They seem content, following Italy's graph with ease;
India's sweeps in, to stay ahead of the curve,
Taking testing and confinement, with lots of vigor and verve.

Don’t know how, this story is gonna end,
Don’t know when, the economy will mend;
Don’t know how many of us, will get past the crisis,
And emerge a true survivor, beating this virus.
