Poem #75 I am Human first!

I lead my life as a Hindu,
Believing in Rebirth, Salvation and Dharma;
Whatever good or bad you choose to do,
Earns you this and next lifetimes Karma.

I lead my life as a Muslim,
Believing in One Eternal Absolute God;
Guided by Quran, Holy book of Islam,
Paradise is where my good earns reward.

I lead my life as a Christian,
Believing that God, Jesus and Holy Spirit are my Trinity;
Judgement Day, Heaven and Hell drive my mission,
I take pride in forgiveness, pardon and charity.

I lead my life as a Buddhist,
Believing that my aim is to attain Nirvana;
Governed by strict code of conduct and discipline,
I am kind to all humans, flora and fauna.

I lead my life as a Jain,
Believing that ultimate truth and reality has many aspects;
Adhering by Ahimsa, to alleviate world’s pain,
Detachment and celibacy earn my respect.

I lead my life as a Sikh,
Believing that there is one Creator;
Engaging in self control and meditation techniques,
To me equality, selfless service and honesty matters.

I lead my life as a Human,
Believing in making ends meet;
When struggling for food, in my hunger,
All of the above take a back seat.

No matter what my religion,
It’s a guide to life, a means to an end;
We all believe that once we die,
There is some place our soul gets sent.

In our struggle to plan, for a better after-life,
Let’s make it a point, to not forget;
War, Poverty and Starvation, that causes strife,
Continue reigning today's world, as prominent threats.

Decide and leave behind, your fanatic roar,
Religion is path to a halo, not a crown on our head;
Join hands. and first win humanity’s war,
Pick up the best learnings from all and lay the rest to bed.
