Why do we, to conquer great treasures,
End up missing world’s simple pleasures?
Why oh why, do we choose to run,
When we can stop to enjoy the sun?
Why do we abandon peace and choose to war,
When we know that it takes happiness afar?
Why do we not adore the sweet smile,
But look for evil, even where there is no vile?
Why do we waste our time in meaningless pursuit,
While we treat our loved ones like a brute?
Why do we earn laurels yet not learn,
That love is one thing that each of us yearn?
Frivolous though these thoughts may seem
Think and remember your childhood dreams.
They are more fulfilling yet we do not care,
And squander the little time we have to spare.
Life is short, so make it sweet
In this road happiness you will meet.
