As a child, I wanted it all,
Everything in sight, mine to be hauled;
I did not know, life wasn’t a free-for-all,
All within my reach, no matter how big or small!
As a teenager, I wanted what I did not have,
I had learnt, the limit my ceiling had;
I knew now, that we were not all equal,
My actions would determine, my life’s sequel.
As an adult, I wanted what I could attain,
Thoughtful buys, till my earnings drained;
I was now privy, to live within my means,
Nostalgically I cherished, my carefree teens!
As I grew older, thoughts matured with age,
Travel and experiences, was where I spent my wage;
Things I had amassed, could be lost in a split second,
What mattered most, was how I grew over time as a person!
Finally old, my time short, I unlock the wise secret,
I had wasted my life over the trivial, to my regret;
All that remains of us, once we are dead & gone,
Are memories of our kind acts, to strangers and those we have known!
