Poem #241 Strangers that had never met…

Sitting next to each other,
On the bench at the park;
Our hearts couldn’t have been,
Any farther apart;
Sun bright and glittering,
Birds chirping their happy song;
The winds blew hard,
Creating ripples on the pond.

After all the ups and downs,
We failed to face together;
The hurt and pain,
We always caused each other;
No more animosity or contempt,
No feeling of dread or regret;
No hate or love,
That bound us together.

I suddenly felt,
A deep sense of calm;
Finally at peace,
With nothing to give each other;
Sitting next to each other,
On the bench at the park;
We could have been,
Strangers, that had never met!
