Poem # 235 Perfectly Imperfect Match…

We were truly a rarity, a perfectly imperfect match,
Ticking all the boxes on my list, my heart you easily snatched;
With your casual and nonchalant, acts of love and care,
Hook line and sinker, I was easily caught in your snare!

You promised to be there always, no matter what life threw,
Stealing my heart, I know not, if you really meant to;
Finally, the time came, when I needed you most,
You left me at a lurch, without a trace, like a ghost!

You wore a face of kindness, making me swoon and sway,
Feigned simplicity, turned my sunny skies, bleak and grey;
You played my heart, and chose to go your own way,
With the weight of these thoughts, how can you sleep fine each day?

Listlessly, I now go on with my life, still mending my broken heart,
My mind deeming it naive, starts to rule all my decisions from the start;
Raising tall strong walls, to protect my heart strictly under latch,
We were but a fantasy, a perfectly imperfect match!
