Poem # 104 Moon Enlightens

In the dark sky, shining bright,
I light up the dusky world white;
Waxing or waning, I glow in all my might,
Fortnightly, I rest in respite.

Night after night, the darkness I fight,
Much to the obscured world’s delight;
Conquering the natural blackness of the night,
My power seems to enhance my might.

Gloriously, I am crowned, the queen of the night,
Thrilled, you thank me for the gift of sight;
Until suddenly in time, my silvery rays bright,
Rapidly ebbed, by a strange golden light.

Refreshed, the world rises up to a warm daylight,
My cherished prowess, now viewed in slight;
Sun’s fiery brilliance, dims me from sight,
While I continue to shine, in wait for a time that’s right.

Didn’t need to wait long, soon it was twilight,
My turn to shine, with renewed might;
Was once again the primary, light source in sight,
This was my moment, while Sun was in a plight.

Natural cycle goes on, as the clock strikes nigh,
Sun and I, in tandem taking turns to reach our heights;
We could have let our egos play us, into an unmatched fight,
Instead we chose to reign together, at our specific times.

Remember to trust, your strengths and might,
Life’s not a competition, so wait for a time right;
Hone your strengths, vanquish your slights,
For your reign will come, as mine does each night.
