I was surprised and happy when you bought me that dress
After so many years, you had remembered my birthday without
any duress!
Took me back in time when you planned my special day with
care
When you loved me and, strove to add in my life, some flair.
Excited as I was, I went up and tried it on
That’s when you hid from me, the gifts you bought for your
clan;
It struck me like a lightning, that you had planned your
trip to the mall
To buy for others in your life, it wasn’t for me after all.
Much as I loved it, I returned it to you
With a heavy heart, I wish that you knew
Each such action from you, cuts my heart like a knife
Oh! How it hurts to be an extra in your life.
Shattered once again that, I am but an afterthought to you
Sad and lonely, I miss the love I once knew
Is it so hard to make me the priority in your life?
If so, why ever did you choose me to be your wife?
