Poem #26 To my sister-in-law Supriya.... (Feb 01, 2019)

It’s your half birthday! So I had to settle a score,
Meant to write you one last year, but had none in store!
Wrote you this poem, think you know how its gonna go,
Where else to start except at the get-go.

Initially, at the very first glance,
I was willing to give you a chance;
Decided we needed to ignore each other’s flaws,
After all we would be, sisters-in-law!

We landed on opposite sides of the equation,
Blame it on lack of, direct communication;
Then there was a time, we stayed out of each other’s way,
Gladly avoid interacting, if we ever got a say.
As luck would have it, fate had other plans,
Sent you over across the ocean, straight to my land;
With some effort, I decided to give it a chance and tried,
To open up my mind and arms out wide.

Looks like you too, decided to do the same,
That definitely helped us avoid, throwing the blame;
A whole night of baring my heart, is all it took,
To get you to see, my side of the book.

Today we are friends, as staunch as can be,
I see you as my sister, with whom I can be free;
Great relationship, doesn’t really depend on history,
Glad that we both had the good sense, to believe in the possibility.

Thank you for being there for me, in times of my need
For not playing games, letting me live the life I lead;
For being fair and always, your most awesome self,
Right around the corner, whenever I need your help!

Now, I can barely, imagine a life without you in it,
Any move apart, will be very hard to fit;
Cherish you loads and love you more,
Wishing you all the joy and happiness life has in store!

A very happy half birthday to you Supriya!
