A little bit of legacy, for you to carry on
In the form of an old card and a new heartfelt poem
My sister sent me this greeting, when I turned into a teen
Time for me to grow up and pass the buck it would seem.
As I write this, my thoughts, go down memory lane
To the day thirteen years ago, life since, has never been the same!
You came into our lives, a small little bundle of joy,
Shorter than my forearm, who would have guessed, you would grow into this tall boy!
From the moment you stepped in, you owned our hearts
You became our world, our lives were on a restart
Brimming with love and laughter, you brought us unbridled happiness
Your little triumphs each day, made success in our lives contagious.
As a little one itself, you were decisive and knew your wants
A young brilliant mind, ready to learn, determined to win against all taunts
You are growing up with a heart that makes your mamma proud
Your mom, grandma and aunt cheering each of your wins, out loud.
Where is that little boy, ready to please and be everyone’s beau,
Now your teenage tantrums are beginning to show
Corrupt as we are, we allow ourselves to be bought, when subject to your disses,
Each time you get away, with your bribe of bountiful hugs, smiles and kisses!
We do our best to protect and swaddle you in the cocoon of our love
Teaching you to grow up strong, fair and brave, trusting the Almighty above,
There will be times when the world around you seems hard and trying
Remember then, that the success buds, from the challenges you are defying
Here are a googol blessings, warm hugs and kisses
Success, health, prosperity, love and peace, for you, are our wishes
In the path of your life, may fun adventures, joy and happiness be unfurled
Be the best that you can be and give your best, back to the world
I wanted to keep it funny, interesting, short and sweet,
To confine you… our world… to a small poem, that’s an impossible feat!!
How else can I end it, but sweet wishes for your “Teen”-day
Wish you dearest Aditya a very happy 13th birthday!
